Instructions on Completing the Online Application for a Firearms License

Please Visit the Indiana State Police website

  1. Click on Resources (on left side of screen)
  2. Click on Firearms Licensing
  3. Click on Firearms License Application Process

Step #1:

Complete the Online Application

You will need to have an e-mail address so the Indiana State Police Firearms will be able to contact you.

***Make sure to answer all questions. If you have been convicted of a misdemeanor and/or a felony be sure to answer yes. Your application could be denied if any answer is marked incorrectly. ***

At the end of the application, you will receive directions on how to schedule electronic fingerprinting (Step #2) and pay your state fee.

**It should be noted that the Wabash Police Department does not have the capability to do your electronic fingerprinting**

Step #2:

Schedule your electronic fingerprinting through MorphoTrust. You will also be able to pay your fingerprinting charge at this time.

Step #3:

Contact the Wabash Police Department. At that time the Wabash Police Department will do a local background check. After your background check is complete you will be notified to come to the Wabash Police Department to pay your local fee.

Step #4:

After you have paid your local fee the Wabash Police Department will then transfer your application to ISP (Indiana State Police) for final review.

Step #5:

Once your application is approved, your permit will be sent to you via the U.S. Mail. If your application is rejected, you will be notified via the U.S Mail by ISP and you will receive instruction on how to file an appeal.
