International Partnership

The City of Wabash has been working with an experienced consultant to explore fostering sister-city relationships with multiple countries. Mayor Scott Long is pleased to work with and build relationships with China, Germany, Japan, and Ukraine. 

Wabash Mayor Scott Long led a delegation of Wabash County Leaders on a trade mission to Asia. The group included leaders from the Honeywell Foundation, Grow Wabash County, Wabash City Schools, the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership and local businesses. The delegation met with business and government officials in Japan and China during the trip. This project has been a key focus for Mayor Long’s administration.

"As Mayor of Wabash, one of my goals is to better prepare our students and community to compete in a global marketplace.  The relationships that I began building in Japan and China beginning in 2017 are working toward that goal.  A community of our size can compete with larger communities when we work with our local partners, such as Wabash City Schools, to foster student exchange opportunities, foreign language study opportunities, working with local foreign owned companies, and building relationships with all involved.  Attracting foreign investment into Wabash is the best way to position ourselves to be successful well into the future."
